Catherine & Rosie – Wedding day

Cambridge Wedding & Lifestyle Portrait Photographer

I count myself very fortunate being invited to capture the wedding day memories for many couples, getting the chance to do it twice for one couple is truly a unique opportunity. Not because it was either brides second wedding but because the celebrations were spread over two weeks. And also my first same sex wedding therefore two firsts and two things to celebrate.

On the 4th July Catherine and Rosie held the official ceremony at the beautiful Wallingford Town Hall followed a small intimate family meal hosted by Catherine’s parents at the Beetle and Wedge riverside restaurant. Nestled on the banks of the River Thames the venue provided an idilic setting befitting this wonderful occasion.

The second part was held the following week in a beautiful marquee on the lawn of Rosie’s mothers home in Lincolnshire, testament to the strength of the bond, love and support of the two families.

You could only imagine how wonderful the beautifully well-kempt gardens looked without the marquee as the sheer size of it left very little of the lawn visible. The flower beds lovingly tendered by Rosie’s mother had been planted to reflect the colour scheme the girls had carefully put together. Guests were invited to enjoy pre dinner drinks and canapés either on the garden terrace or choosing to sit it out in the wonderful south facing garden conservatory.

The colour theme continued effortlessly throughout the entire wedding, subtlety weaving its way through the proceedings unobtrusively but with a delicate nod to the wonderful day that was unfolding. Tender heartfelt gestures to Rosie’s late father, Group Captain – J D Lunt were an important part of scheme and in his memory Rosie wore a bespoke belt around her waist which had been crafted from one of his shirts and beaded with the emblem of the Royal Air Force, a truly touching and fitting honour.

The beautiful hand crafted cake, the wonderful opulent flower arrangements, designer shoes and hand made felt mice on the guarding the assorted cheeses demonstrated the level of thought and meticulous planning that had gone into this day, but boy did it show? absolutely! 100%

I have had the pleasure of working with both Catherine and Rosie at different stages in my previous career. I have never seen them looking so radiant and beautiful as I did on both days but particularly day two surrounded by so many people that cared for them.

I was also conscious how many times I had written beautiful in this blog post so I went back over it and tried to change a few, but at the end of the day beautiful is what it was. Stunning, Amazing and quite simply BEAUTIFUL.

And you know what I recall most of all when looking back on Catherine and Rosie’s images? It’s the laughter, of course there were tears too but what wedding is complete without them but every where was laughter and happy smiley faces filled with joy and pride for being part of this magnificent day.

It was evident that from our very early meetings that, for the girls, being surrounded by their close friends and family was extremely important to both of them. The strength of love and support from both sets of parents, family and friends tells me these girls are cared for and loved by many. Thank you for allowing me to be part it.
