Its no coincidence that this blog post goes live today, Friday 11th December 2015 as three months on this very day, Friday 11th September Emine and Devand (Dev) said “I DO” in front of their family and friends at the Islington Town Hall. The weather was just perfect and everything came together just as I knew it would.
Emine and Dev had some very clear ideas how they wanted to the day to pan out and their meticulous planning left nothing to chance. Now, most couples have to contend with planning one day, some two but in this case Emine and Dev were planning three large scale events. The official ceremony at Islington Town Hall was in fact part two of three. Part one saw Emine and Dev on the magical island of Ibiza where they had a small intimate ceremony overlooking the crystal blue Mediterranean Sea. The warmth of the sun that day was again mirrored by the warmth of love radiating at the Town Hall where many of Emine and Dev’s family and friends had come together to wish them well.
Emine and Dev clearly have a huge group of close friends, and I count myself amongst that group. You would too if you knew them. Part two was always going to be for the wider close family but the same friends that had celebrated with them In Ibiza turned up to witness the official ceremony at Islington Town Hall before dispersing again so the family could go on to mark the occasion at an intimate family lunch. These friends didn’t just ‘pop out’ in their lunch break they were there attending their friends wedding, simply because that is what genuine friends do. So after the wedding ceremony in the beautiful councillors chambers of the Town Hall we headed to the Haz Bar & Restaurant in Bishopgate.
I knew from our first meeting and the pre wedding shoot that an urban street vibe would be the order of the day, so against the back drop of a bustling Spitalfields Market we did just that!
For the next part it was time to party. We had moved on 24 hours for part three was taking place on the Saturday evening. I have always said Emine & Dev were “Down with the Kids” a term I had bantered around not really knowing what I meant by it. So I looked it up in the Urban dictionary. Definition: To be cool, clued-up and enlightened as a result of ones knowledge and/or pursuit of the interests, passtimes and trends commonly associated with people younger than oneself. So now armed with that information I feel authorised to confirm that they are in fact “Down with the Kids.”
What an amazing evening. From the food, the beautiful cake made by the very talented Janice Johnson, to the amazing tunes being played by friend and guest DJ and most importantly the company. The three parts dovetailed seamlessly together with something for everyone and with Emine & Dev giving selflessly a bit of themselves to each and every one of us.
Emine & Dev thank you so much for asking me to be a part of your wedding celebrations. To your family and many friends thank you for making me feel so welcome. Wishing you both a lifetime of happiness.
