Cambridge Wedding Photography I Peterborough Cathedral I Charlotte & Joe
The amazing Peterborough Cathedral was the setting for the wedding of Charlotte and Joe. Standing proud and regal in the heart of the city centre Peterborough Cathedral looms large over the town square. The original church dates back to 655AD and although various disasters were bestowed on the church it wasn't until 1116 when destroyed by fire necessitated a new Norman Style church to be built on the existing site. The magnificent ceiling completed between 1230 - 1250 still survives today and is unique in Britain and only one of four in the whole of Europe.
The truly jaw dropping awesomeness of Peterborough Cathedral is best viewed in person but I hope these images give you a flavour of the vibrancy and warmth this serene place has to offer. Peterborough's famous football team nicknamed "the Posh" would have certainly had a run for their money to produce something as spectacular on the particular Saturday as Charlotte and Joe managed on their wedding day who had certainly scored an own goal.
Sweet Smell of Lilies
Charlotte and Joe are fortunate to live close by making Peterborough Cathedral their parish church. Living right on the doorstep affords them the privilege to get married within its amazing walls. Being the first couple ever granted permission to hold both their ceremony and wedding reception inside the Cathedral Charlotte was keen to match her decor to the splendour of the surroundings. Large metre tall candelabras overflowing with stargazer lilies, roses, hydrangea, green foliage and lit by church pillar candles lined the horseshoe shaped tables. A wall of white apple blossom trees created a stunning backdrop behind the top table.
As you can imagine with a wedding on this scale Charlotte sensibly enlisted the help of Amy Thorne from Amaranthyne Weddings to co-ordinate the numerous suppliers that made up this wedding dream team. Multi award winning wedding planner and wedding director Amy executed Charlottes plans to co-produce a true spectacle. Her calm friendly manner weaved seamlessly throughout the day stepping in to make sure the day ran according to plan. From wedding venue search, total or partial support to wedding day management Amy services are invaluable. Its worth dropping her a line to see how she can help with your wedding day planning.
Working alongside me on this momentous day was Mark from Mark Bunney Photography. In addition a whole host of industry wedding suppliers made the dreams become a reality and for my part preserved for generations to come that will marvel at the splendour of this amazing day. Most of all thank you Charlotte and Joe for having me along to share in and experience this wonderful journey.
