Oxnead Hall Summer Wedding I Rachel and Martin
The magnificent Oxnead Hall Norfolk was the setting for Rachel and Martin’s summer wedding. Surrounded by their family and friends the day was always going to be memorable. Holding your wedding at Oxnead Hall, you and your guests are transported to a world of opulence and decadence. The stunning backdrop of the 16th century period house, the Parterre with tiered terraces leading to the beautiful water garden and the woodland walk will leave any photographer spoilt for choice. The manicured lawns or the fountain courtyard provide the perfect solution for your drinks reception. While the great barn hosts the exquisitely prepared wedding breakfast.
Pampering
Bridal prep was in the capable hands of Poppy from Hair by Poppy and Michelle Bennett Make Up Artist who were there to ensure Rachel looked and felt special on her wedding day. Rachel’s stunning V neckline gown from Camilla Brides with layered lace detail. Complete with a gorgeous fishtail train topped off with a flowing intricate veil Rachel looked amazing. Rachel’s bouquet by The Passion of Flowers in Holt perfectly crowned the overall look.
Reservoir Dogs
While the bride was feeling the pre wedding nerves the boys calmed theirs with a swig of whiskey from their personalised sterling silver hip flasks. Jonathan, my second photographer managed to get the boys outside for some relaxed shots ahead of the big event.
Champagne & Canapés
The wedding ceremony which took place in the Orangery had the perfect mix of emotion and formality. After the signing of the register and a few more photographs guests were treated to a canapé and champagne reception at the Parterre. With the formal photographs complete it was time for the couple portrait session. As the guests continued to sip on champagne we slipped away to another part of the 16 acre grounds and towards the beautiful water gardens. The meal that followed in the amazing great barn was a welcome mid point break to this awesome day.
Proceeded by the cutting of the cake lovingly made by The Cake Lady the couple took to the floor for their first dance and partied into the night with tunes from Edge Entertainments.
I asked Rachel and Martin some questions about the build up to their big and their exciting journey that got them to that place.
Where did you have your first date?
Wagamamas in Norwich. Still one of our favourites places to go to eat.
Martin, How did you propose?
“ I’d planned to propose when we were at Lake Garda, Rachel couldn’t wait so I ended up proposing twice, once at our home in the lounge and again in Garda town”
How long have you been planning your big day?
We took 12 months planning for our big day.
What was your favourite part of the day?
We loved it all but for us the ceremony was our favourite part of the day where we got to say ‘I Do’ in front of all our family and friends.
Any tips/advice you’d like to share which you learnt along the way?
It’s true when everyone say the day flies past so having a good photographer to help you remember it all is critical. Feeling confident with your photographer knowing that your wedding day memories are being preserved is so reassuring.
Any little things you fell out over during the planning stages?
We didn’t fall out over anything but unbeknown to me Rachel had put me in the smaller cottage at Oxnead Hall by myself the night before the wedding. I was little surprised but actually it certainly was the best decision as it was so peaceful.
Where did you go on honeymoon?
We stayed in a beautiful place called Chia on the south coast of Sardinia.
