RELAXED BLISS I THE RIVER MILL ST NEOTS I CAMBRIDGE WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY
D.I.Y WEDDING I THE RIVER MILL ST NEOTS I CAMBRIDGE WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY
I’d met Claire and Dave at a local wedding fair and briefly spoke about their plans for their day at The River Mill. I’d heard nothing back from for a while and just assumed that they had managed to source their photographer. There’s such a plethora of suppliers out there that it can get daunting and very confusing so thought nothing of it. I don’t do the hard sell as I believe if you are a good match it will work out, so as usual I just left Claire and Dave with my details . Several months later they got in touch and I was honoured to not only be contacted but to be hired as their photographer for what is one the most important day of their lives.
Claire had her bridal prep at the Wyboston Lakes Hotel along with her bridesmaids. I knew from our pre weddings meetings that the day was going to be relaxed with the emphasis on fun. The bridal prep was just that. By the time I got there I think the excitement of the day had taken over. Claire had her hair and make up done by Georgina Milsome. “I went for a relaxed look, restricted by having a fringe and make up to cover a scar so Georgina used air brush foundation on my face” Georgina did an amazing job and Claire looked absolutely radiant.
Meanwhile over at the couples home my second photographer Maya Kemp was being kept entertained by the groom and his equally entertaining best men during the groom prep. A short walk from the home to the River Mill proved to be as challenging but for all the right reasons. This couple certainly were going to enjoy and ensure they remembered this day. The boys wore matching blue suits and grey waistcoats from Moss Bros hire.
Claire’s couture dress with sweetheart top and lace jacket overlay. Designed and made by her primary school friend Hannah from Noble and Wright ateliér based in Leicester. The skirt of the dress was a stylish short at the front and long at the back with flowing fishtail train. Her simple, elegant hand tied bouquet supplied by The Decoy Farm, was made of white roses, gypsophila and foliage and were the most prefect addition. Her bridesmaids pale grey dresses with an appliqué bodice topped off with matching shawls. The subtle tones weaved effortlessly throughout .
The venue for this amazing unique wedding was the River Mill Pub in St Neots. A perfect backdrop for a prefect day. With exclusive use of the bar, restaurant and grounds the day was totally bespoke. The weather was, as we ordered, amazing with the sun shining all day right on cue!
Always wanting to involve family and friends in the finer details made the special touches even more meaningful. Two of Claire’s other friends, Holly & Chantal baked and decorated the beautiful crafted ’nude’ cake decorated to match the bridal bouquet.
Claires mum made the miniature individual Limoncello as favours which certainly kicked a punch post dinner. The direction signage dotted around the grounds was hand made by Claire’s dad. Her brother played acoustic guitar during the outdoor ceremony conducted by local celebrant Claire Norman. Later as the evening slipped away Claires Dad and his band The Boodons took to the stage and performed several sets. The crowd not allowing them to leave the stage amid cries of “one more”
All in all this was a perfect day. I firmly believe no two weddings should ever be the same and I know it will be a long time before I am privileged enough to be attending such a day as this. You did your family and guests proud Mr & Mrs Fane x

I am interested to know more about my couples so I questioned them a little further about their plans
Where did you meet?
We met through an online dating app.
How did Dave propose?
On holiday in the Dominion Republic. We had a champagne catamaran trip planned to Paradise island to go snorkelling. Thats when he proposed and had tied the ring into his shorts for safe keeping.
How long did you plan for your wedding?
Around 18months between proposal to wedding day.
What was your favourite part of the day?
All of it was incredible and it turned out exactly as we had planned. We wanted a relaxed fun celebration type wedding and thats exactly what it was. We both loved every minute and wouldn’t have changed anything.
Any tips/advice to share with other couples?
Use family and friends as much as you can to help with the small details. This makes certain touches even more special. Make sure your day is as you want and not about pleasing others. Keep things relaxed and fun – after all its a celebration and should not be a day of feeling stressed and tense.
Anything you fell out over during the planning stages?
We are pretty laid back and have quite similar tastes / views on things. Dave wanting chair covers and I wasn’t too bothered but I have to admit on this occasion and for our venue this was the right decision. Certainly lifted the room.
Did you go on Honeymoon? If so where?
We spent three weeks travelling North to South Italy visiting Lake Garda, Tuscany, Rome, Sorrento, Capri, Pompeii and the Amalfi Coast – It was perfect!
What the couple had to say about Mark Nortcliffe Photography
We first met Mark at a wedding fair and within minutes of talking to him we knew he was the Photographer that we wanted – We both got on so well with him and Claire (my wife) especially knew she would be able to relax around him which was really important for us. He gave really helpful insight around things like potential timings for the big day and was always open to help with any ideas or advice we may need – This was all on the first day we met him.
All round Brilliant Guy!
Mark is the perfect Photographer to have involved in a wedding as he is so much more than a Photographer, he’ll be there throughout all stages of our planning with ideas and advice – his enthusiasm towards our big day was truly incredible and everyone who attended the wedding has said how amazing the pics are and also what a brilliant guy Mark is. Mark has the perfect balance between being professional but also being personable which is a very hard thing to do. The quality of everything that he does is to the highest level possible and attention to detail is beyond anything I have seen before. In meeting Mark we have made a friend for life and we could not recommend his services highly enough – If you need a photographer then Mark is the man for you.
