Riverside Wedding I The Maltings Ely
April and Pete Riverside wedding at the Maltings in Ely, arguably one of the city’s distinguishing landmarks. The Maltings is set in the beautiful surroundings of Ely’s riverside with stunning views over the river Ouse and the Marina. Built in 1868 as part of Ebenezer William Harlock’s brewery complex where locally grown barley was processed into Malt for brewing. This building provides an amazing backdrop and venue for your wedding day.
Calmness & Serenity
April had spent the morning at her parents house and preparations were in full swing when I arrived. Pete’s daughter was on hand as she was as much a part of this big day as the bride herself. I believe the wedding was billed as April, Pete and Emmie’s wedding day. So mature for her young years Emmie was unofficially in charge that day. It was lovely to see the relationship Emmie had with April. The best ever adopted parent.
Maya Kemp who was my Girl Friday for April & Pete’s riverside wedding was with the boys for groom prep. Without the help of Emmie I can only assume she had a harder time than me. Ex Army, Pete has an amazing personality and both April and Pete have remained good friends to this day. But also I know Pete’s playful side so I know Maya would have her work cut out. She did an amazing job.
Wedding Day Bliss
Soon it was time to leave the house for the Matings for the wedding ceremony. With all the guests in place April and her dad made their entrance. The emotions were high for both the bride and groom which only goes to prove the unison between two is meant to be. After the ceremony and drinks reception it was time for the formals. Now they say its good luck to rain on your wedding day and rain wasn’t going rain on this parade. With the formals completed inside the rain held off long enough for the couple portrait session. The Riverside and river walk providing a great backdrop.
I loved the fact that Emmie was a big part of this day. Co parenting is not always easy but Emmie has great role models in both April and Pete. In a way she is the lucky one who has two families that love her so much. April and Pete you are an amazing couple that has so much to give. I loved being a part of your day. Thank you xx
In their own words
I love to ask questions of my couples post wedding day. To get a further insight to the wedding day from their perspective.
Where did you meet?
We met online on a dating app. A few days later we met near to where Pete lived in Milton Keynes. We hit it off immediately and felt like we’d known each other for years.
How did Pete propose?
Pete proposed at home one evening and from then I started planning haha
How long have you been planning your big day?
Just over two years. It felt like a long time but it crept up on us so quick.
What was your favourite part of the day?
Seeing everybody together. Life sometimes gets in the way and it doesn’t happen much but when it does its magical.
Any tips / advice you’d like to share?
Don’t stress the detail because on the day nothing matters. Have good suppliers around you and trust them to make the magic happen.
Anything you fell out over while planning your wedding?
Nothing. We talked through the bits that were important to us and kept those to the front of our mind throughout the planning stages.
