Midsummer Wedding I Holkham Hall
Holkham Hall Norfolk played host Fiona & Joe’s amazingly relaxed midsummer wedding. Holkham Hall is an 18th century country house and home to The Coke family and the Earls of Leicester. Set in 6100 hectares of beautiful Norfolk countryside Holkham is the perfect setting for your wedding day. In addition spoilt with the perfect setting and an abundance of sunshine, clear skies on this wonderful midsummer’s day.
Gin & Tonic
When I first met with Fiona and Joe I knew instantly that I wanted to be the one who would record this momentous occasion for them. Their approach to their wedding day was as is should be. Knowing that if you as a couple are having an amazing day your guests will be having an amazing time too. From the gin and tonic in their garden at their Norwich home, to the seaside pre wedding shoot to the day itself, everything was so relaxed and chilled.
Home From Home
This amazing day started with bridal prep at The Crown Hotel, Wells Next the Sea, The beautiful private annexe of 5 adjoining rooms felt perfect. A home from home experience. Prosecco flowing Fiona was being preened, pampered and waitered on, no less than any bride deserves on her wedding day. Tanya Wollacott creating the jaw dropping bridal hair and Paris Cressy the flawless make up artistry. Fiona’s dream team of local suppliers working seamlessly together. Meanwhile my assistant photography, Vinny Smith was spending time with the boys at The Hero in Burnham Overy Staithe. Jo from Constance Rose delivered the bridal bouquet. Flowers that reflected a midsummer day were simply perfect for the occasion.
Marble Hall
Fiona and Joe were to marry in the amazing Marble Hall at Holkham. The perfectly aligned columns supporting the breathtaking ornate ceiling rising to a height of over 50ft. This magnificent hall has the real WOW factor and was perfect for this perfect couple. The stunning staircase the ideal platform to conduct a personal, heartfelt wedding ceremony. After the register signing Fiona and Joe made their way to The Saloon for some photos. Then sweeping back down the staircase to their waiting guests armed with copious amounts of confetti that welcomed the newly weds.
The Temple
At Holkham you are afforded so many photo opportunities, only time is the barrier. In reality I could shoot several weddings at Holkham Hall and each would be different because of the vast opportunities. However I am alway grateful when my couples trust me enough to steal them away from their guests. Above all taking time away allowed us time to visit The Temple tucked away in the woods. The ideal setting for photographs and a chance for Fiona and Joe ti have some ‘us time’. Returning back it was almost time for the cutting of the cake and the first dance.
Midsummer Nights
Its true that your guests will remember the venue, food and entertainment. Fiona and Joe wanted to make sure these things were unforgettable and they didn’t disappoint. Firstly the venue is awe-inspiring. Secondly the food was delicious, beautifully presented and locally sourced. And lastly the entertainment from the soothing tones of the Kavolini String Quartet to the amazing sounds of The Joe Ringer Band fitted the day perfectly. In conclusion as the evening fell away on a beautiful midsummer wedding we left with thoughts of a truly awesome day.
Thank you Fi and Joe for having me as part of your day. I have loved getting to know you and honoured to have been able to showcase your wedding day.

In Their Own Words
I questioned Fiona a little more on their romantic journey. I very inquisitive haha!
How did you meet?
I chatted to Joe who was working on a stand for Windsor Bishop at The Royal Norfolk Show in 2014, nearly five year to the date. He sold my sister a ring but I certainly got the better deal.
How did Joe pop the question?
Joe proposed in Iceland at the Gullfoss Waterfall. In a complete contrast to our wedding day, which was so hot, it was snowing. Joe had been agitated all day was is so out of character for him. Even at the airport he wasn’t his usual calm self having to check in his hand luggage into the hold which I now know contained my engagement ring. Even worse when his bag was one of the last ones to make its way onto the carousel.
What was your favourite part of your wedding day?
Everything from start to finish. We always wanted a midsummer wedding. The most special moment was when the doors of the Marble Hall opened. I could hear the string quartet playing and we were surrounded by our family and friends. It all felt very magical.
Where did you go on honeymoon?
We went to Lake Garda and Venice two months after the wedding in September. It was amazing and gave us something to look forward to after the excitement of the wedding had started to fade.
