Mark Nortcliffe Photography

a lifelong passion

I’ve always loved photography and seeing the pleasure that it can bring to those whose pictures I’ve taken. Originally from Great Yarmouth, as a child, I spent many happy hours on the Norfolk and Suffolk coastline. Sunday afternoons were often spent on the beautiful Norfolk Broads. I come from a large family, and they laugh to recall how, as a 12-year-old, I would stage family photos by using props or getting them to do something more interesting than just facing the camera head-on. I am so grateful for my family’s patience over the years as I honed my skill and waited with bated breath as my films were being developed! I like to think that I repaid them with some lovely compositions for the family albums. Fast forward more years than I care to mention and now living between Cambridge and London, I am still fortunate enough to have some wonderful places that I am able to create stunning and amazing photographs. Only its a new generation of family members that I have to now be grateful to.

about Mark

My style of photography is relaxed, fun and unobtrusive. A hybrid of photojournalism and formal. What does this mean? It means I will be on hand to capture many of the candid moments throughout your day that you may otherwise miss. I will watch and record the celebrations as the day unfolds, the emotions and the laughter. With all of that I will include a mixture of ‘formal’ shots that I still believe has a place at every wedding and then of course steal you away from your guests for a short time for your romantic couple shoot. My coverage is from bridal prep to first dance and beyond.

Please check out my Wedding portfolio to better acquaint yourself with my individual style.

I have covered various types of wedding ceremonies from church weddings, civil ceremonies, Hindu weddings and same sex marriages. From iconic London city landmarks, Cambridge colleges and stately homes to small boutique hotels, no two weddings are ever the same. Your wedding day should be as individual as you are!

If you want to sit down and discuss your plans I offer a no-obligation consultation meeting at my studio in Girton or if more convenient somewhere nearer to you. You can call, mail or contact me via my Contact page.

I would love to hear from you so please do get in touch.

Choosing your Cambridge Wedding Photographer

Your wedding day is a major event in your life’s journey, an event that is shared with those that have played an important part in your life and who cares about you the most. So with the same emphasis that has been placed on the day itself, ensuring the memories are preserved and treasured dearly for generations to come, finding the right wedding photographer is paramount.

There’s a plethora of great local wedding photographers in the area. During your research you will have stumbled across many websites often staying longer once drawn to their wedding image portfolio. I would always suggest narrowing down your selection and take time to meet with a couple of your chosen few to really understand how your photographer will work with you on the day. It is so important that you feel comfortable and relaxed around your photographer and choose one who will share your vision.

I personally feel choosing the right photographer is one of the biggest decisions you should make throughout your wedding planning journey. The investment you make is rivalled with mine and I will take time to get to know you throughout the planning stages and beyond. My on going investment into training and education, latest professional equipment, gadgets and industry leading software demonstrates my total commitment to you and your wedding day.

Every wedding is unique and varied whether a civil ceremony, church wedding or a same sex marriage and I have been fortunate enough to be asked to cover them all. The one overriding factor is the unity and love between two people.

Thank you for getting this far. If my images speak volumes to you and reading between the lines you get ME I would love to hear from you. To ensure I am able to deliver the same level outstanding service to all my couples I limit the number of weddings I will consider to shoot each year. You can call, mail or contact me via my Contact page where you can be sure of a uniquely personalised service from the first point of contact through to delivery of your images and beyond.

As humans we are marvellous complex beings with minds that can store and recall many stories from the past. But we can only recall the stories from our own perspective, from the events that we are witness to or played a part in, and sometimes that’s OK. But at times we are involved in events where the whole is greater than the sum of its parts, where so much is happening that we fail to see the wider picture.

Your wedding day is one such event and one of the most important days of your life. Let me be the one to tell your story of events as they unfold. Liken your wedding day to a jigsaw puzzle, there are so many pieces that make up the whole picture. Imagine the disappointment when you get to the end and find one little piece missing. It will be my responsibility to make sure that I capture all the little moments you will want to remember forever.

I will bring a sense of calmness to the proceedings and install confidence in you and your guests. My unobtrusive style is relaxed and informal and will put even the most camera shy person at ease. My energy and passion to make your wedding day special will be apparent from the very first time we meet. Read my Reviews here to see what my previous couples have to say.
